THE SALON: LADY LILITH
limited editions
forum only
Lady Lilith, Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
Climbing rose, vanilla cream, vanilla flower, white tea, mandarin, red and white musks, opium poppy, Parma violet, and opoponax.
It's softer than I thought a scent with red musk in it would be, and it's not very sweet. That said though, the red musk is in there and it is a sweet scent in a way. But it's sweet in a baby sort of way. It's like smelling the top of a baby head, that kind of soft.
I can also detect a citrus-y thing back there, but because it's mandarin it has a softer quality.
All in all this is a lovely blend. It fits the celebration of a new baby perfectly without losing the feeling of the lady lilith. On me, it goes a little powdery. But I can still use it, only not when I have a headache.
LAMBS-WOOL

According to William Shepard Walsh, the Gentleman's Magazine for May of 1784 stated, "this is a constant ingredient at merrymaking on Holy Eve." He also quotes Vallancey's etymological speculation: "The first day of November was dedicated to the angel presiding over fruits, seeds, etc., and was therefore named La Mas Ubhal, -- that is, the day of the apple fruit, -- and being pronounced Lamasool, the English have corrupted the name to Lambs-wool."
A popular holy day beverage in 18th century Ireland: roasted apples mashed into warmed milk and ale, with nutmeg, sugar, ginger, and clove.
Apple and cinnamon and spices. It made me crave and make apple pie. It's not really that sweet though, not at first. With a little time it sweetens and smoothens and it's very good.

Skoll the wolf who shall scare the Moon
Till he flies to the Wood-of-Woe:
Hati the wolf, Hridvitnir's kin,
Who shall pursue the Sun.
Red musk, black currant, violet leaf, wild frankincense, lavender, black orchid, Darjeeling tea, vetiver, red moss, myrrh, Moroccan spices, blackened fruit gums, and tobacco.
The first thing that occurred to me was that it smells clean. Maybe that's because it wasn't sweet at all. It's so well blended I can't really pick any noes, except maybe a very faint whiff of red musk. I also imagine I get anise but it's not listed so maybe it's the tea, or the moroccan spices may have a smidge of anise in them. I love it though. Love love.
I got it from a forumite and i'm very happy I did. Excuse me while I make the label for a rollerbottle...
LOVE'S PHILOSOPHY

Percy Bysshe Shelley
The fountains mingle with the river,
And the rivers with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix forever,
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one another's being mingle; --
Why not I with thine?
See! the mountains kiss high heaven,
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister flower would be forgiven,
If it disdained it's brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea; --
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?
Vanilla, saffron, and cream.
Mmm very nice in the bottle, rich and creamy. As I put it on I'm expecting it to turn stale like some foody scents do but this one doesn't. It's just sweet and caramel-y, probably held a little in check by the saffron. Oh I like!
After it's dries it remains wonderful with caramel/vanilla coming off my skin.
It stays pretty close though. I have to put my nose all the way to my wrist to smell it, but that's just nice. It reminds me a little of MIDWAY but this one is even better. I'm very happy I bought it.
LUCY, KISSED

There was a long spell of silence, big, aching, void, and then from the Professor a keen "S-s-s-s!" He pointed, and far down the avenue of yews we saw a white figure advance, a dim white figure, which held something dark at its breast. The figure stopped, and at the moment a ray of moonlight fell upon the masses of driving clouds, and showed in startling prominence a dark-haired woman, dressed in the cerements of the grave. We could not see the face, for it was bent down over what we saw to be a fair-haired child. There was a pause and a sharp little cry, such as a child gives in sleep, or a dog as it lies before the fire and dreams. We were starting forward, but the Professor's warning hand, seen by us as he stood behind a yew tree, kept us back. And then as we looked the white figure moved forwards again. It was now near enough for us to see clearly, and the moonlight still held. My own heart grew cold as ice, and I could hear the gasp of Arthur, as we recognized the features of Lucy Westenra. Lucy Westenra, but yet how changed. The sweetness was turned to adamantine, heartless cruelty, and the purity to voluptuous wantonness. Van Helsing stepped out, and obedient to his gesture, we all advanced too. The four of us ranged in a line before the door of the tomb.
Van Helsing raised his lantern and drew the slide. By the concentrated light that fell on Lucy's face we could see that the lips were crimson with fresh blood, and that the stream had trickled over her chin and stained the purity of her lawn death-robe.
Diabolical voluptuousness, a siren song from the grave: juniper and yew brushing against blackened violets and funeral roses, red musk and hot blood, veined white marble and icy, brittle musk, all pulsing with the sinister, hypnotic scent of patchouli, amber, oude, and cubeb.
Sharp and icy as she goes on and i'm thinking jasmine or white florals but it's probably the white musk and maybe the violets. She calms down in the end but it takes a good 15 mins.
Once she does she's gorgeous though. Rose is coming out and also the red musk. Oh I can use this. No roller bottle just yet though.

The Haunted House 2007
The incense-tinged scent of forbidden tomes and the musk-laden remnants of infernal servants.
It was leaking when it arrived and with a glass wand inside so I'm assuming it has been a part of a personal collection and has been used. Maybe that's why it smells old. Or maybe that's the way it's supposed to smell. I can't really tell. It's not very good though.
LUST
seven deadly sins
Uncontrollable passion and insatiable sexual desire: red musk, patchouli, ylang ylang and myrrh.
Mmm gorgeous. A bottle is on my order list.
It reminds me of SCHEREZADE more than any other oil even if I don't think anything but the red musk connects them. I get whiffs of the ylang ylang/myrrh combo (which has cooled down the love for scents for me before when they have been at the foreground), but here they have to deal with the red musk and they play nice.
