  1. I started the year with FEARFUL PLEASURE, I hope that won't set the mood for the year though lol. It's really good, and I got more of the apple from it this time than when I tested the first time, when I mostly got chimney smoke. After a few hours, when it really started to melt into apple sweetness, I put on a little SNAKE OIL and it's a gorgeous combination even if i'm not sure it qualified as layering since the first one was almost gone. As it was, it became SNAKE OIL with just a faint hint of apple.

  2. SNAKE CHARMER is the scent of the day. It's becoming a favorite fast, since it has all the qualities I like in the white scents but not the dreaded musk that usually comes with it. It's kinda strange how I was tolerant to all the musks in the beginning but now I can't wear anything but the reds and the dark ones. They say it's a tiny amount of red musk in SNAKE OIL and there is SNAKE OIL in this one. Not much but enough to tip it over into gorgeous.

  3. Another SNAKE CHARMER day although I layered with FIRE PHOENIX later in the day. Not a huge succsess but not a huge disaster either.

  4. EGG NOG -I won this one on ebay though so I have no guarantee that it wasn't skin tested, but it was full. The cream makes it smell a little like LOVE'S PHILOSOPHY but when I did a side by side I realized it was the cream note playing tricks on me. That said though, it's not bad for a foody and it hasn't gone to sour cream yet. In the bottle it's more boozy than on my skin but that's true for most boozy scents. My skin seems to eat it up. It's very sweet. I have never had egg nog as a dink so I can't say if it's like it's namesake or not. But I kinda like it. Not omg this is the love of my life kinda love but it's gonna get a rollerbottle and be worn now and then. And i'm glad I tried it. Then, after trying it next to BEAVER'VERSARY and LOVE'S PHILOSOPHY, I had to wash it all off and then I put SPAWN OF THE SHE-DEAMON on. Not a huge success. It's a little too powerful. I'm reminded of THE GRINDHOUSE or maybe more so TRICK #1 so i'm thinking maybe there is a floral in there but no, it's the rooibus tea that makes it too sweet. I'll let it age though and see if it gets better on me. I'm saying on me because i'm thinking i'm a little too sensitive right now. Ended up with SNAKE CHARMER. Expect to see a lot of repititive days on that one. It's always good. I'm thrilled to have another bottle coming!

  5. SNAKE CHARMER...

  6. SNAKE CHARMER. Yeah again. It's a tie for the best ever placement with RED PHOENIX right now. Maaan it's good...

  7. I went out so I took TEMPLE VIPER for a test drive. It's a little sharp around the edges but i'm hoping it will calm down with some time. Here's what I thought: The sugar cane greets me in the bottle and I look forward to putting this on my skin. But something happens and suddenly it's a lot more cologne-y than I thought I was in for. Luckily it changes again before I can think oh no, and it's smooth and sugary now. I don't get any snake oil or maybe just a tiny little all the way up there to the left. This is gorgeous, even after I've been spoiled for days by SNAKE CHARMER RES it's good, which says something because that's a pretty hard act to follow. Yesterday I put a tiny little bit one me and then I got a little whiff of head shop (which I love) but I don't get that today. I have to put it away for ageing. There's a sharpness to it that almost reminds me of jasmine and I can't deal. Maybe it dies down over time. When I got home I put some SNAKE OIL on top of it and that was just great.

  8. Started the day with ON DARKNESS, and as the day progressed I felt the need for some SNAKE OIL so I just put it on top of it. Great combo!

  9. Back on SNAKE CHARMER after a little while because the migrane meds had to kick in first.

  10. Layered FIRE PHOENIX with SMUT. Mmmm gorgeous combination. FIRE PHOENIX has an afterthought that's a little like SMUT so they go very well together.

  11. Back on SNAKE CHARMER

  12. SNAKE CHARMER again... yeah i'm hooked

  13. Once again, SNAKE CHARMER. I'm getting a little note up in the corner that i'm not sure I like though. Maybe I should take a break and try something else before I OD on it. Don't want to do that you know. It's way too good!

  14. I started the day with CANDY PHOENIX, because I realized I haven't actually tested it yet. It's good. Sugar dusted fruit/berries as promised. I like it more than STICKY PILLOWCASE, which is I guess the closest to it I have tested. After that I was thinking of ordering FLOWERING CHRYSANTHEMUMS so I was reminded of CHRYSANTHEMUM MOON. I wore that one for the rest of the day. Here's my thoughts on it when I first got it, I still agree with my former assessment BTW: I know I shouldn't test these things when I have a migraine but I couldn't help myself. At first it was very overwhelming and I was thinking intoxicating but now, after drydown, it has to be one of the most gorgeous i've had the pleasure of sniffing yet -with a possible exception of RED PHOENIX. They're not alike at all even if they have the red musk in common though. This one is much more sofisticated and complex. I'll test it from skratch when i'm not on migraine medication but the fact that I wasn't put off in spite of that tells me this is one of the best buys ever... I ended the day immersed in ANACTORIA though. The honey note was calling me and I gave in. and because I haven't worn it in such a long time, here's my thought on it way back when: -Wet I don't really know how to describe it because I can't really pick any notes out but I do sense the blood and sweat. It's beautifully blended. On drydown I can sense the honey coming through the amber, and that herbal note has to be the kush, far back in the corner. I can't seem to keep my nose away from my wrist, that's how good it is. It's amber and musk but not in any way I have noticed before, in other blends. It's sweet and smooth but still edgy. I love it.

  15. I had the need for something a little dry so I wore VOODOO all day. No need to change from that one and it always lasts a whole day so...

  16. I received some decants yesterday so I tested them all at once: METAL PHOENIX -Oh I like this one! It's a little like MECHANICAL PHOENIX only cleaner and brighter. Too bad the decant came too late because I would have ordered a bottle of this. Well I do have MECHANICAL PHOENIX around to comfort me I guess, although it's a little more oily and rusty. This is more like shiny metal. WOOD PHOENIX -At first it was sharp and floral but that was straight from the mailbox. After sitting in the little glass box over night it was much more mellow though, which is a good thing since I ordered a bottle before the decants got here. I can still sense the magnolia in the wet stage but I have hope it will mellow considerably over time. And after drydown it's just wood. A deep brown wood that is actually pretty gorgeous. MISS LUPESCU -Oh this one is really nice. She is mellow and soft and dark, and the spices include cinnamon or cassia so she's warm and comforting too. She's in there between BENGAL and CHIMERA, a little softer than BENGAL and a little more complex and bearable than CHIMERA. Very nice. I ended up with SNAKE CHARMER after my shower though. I wore it to the store too. Mmm.

  17. Hubby had fish sticks during the night (don't ask) so I had to scent the room somehow to get rid of that horrible fish stench. Luckily I have lots of imps so I chose LONDON to do that for me. It's now wafting through the air, making the environment livable again. I can't wear it on my skin but it's great as a room scent. On me today I chose AND THERE WAS A GREAT CRY IN EGYPT because i'm researching white sandalwood. I recognized the sharp note from TEMPLE VIPER though, so I now know it's hyssop. I tested it twice when I got it and here's what I thought: -First test: I've had to re-slather a few times during the afternoon since it's not really a stayer, and I can recognize the cedar whiff when it's wet now, although and also how the red musk comes out a little later. I'll probably be able to recognize more notes when i've worn it a few more days. It's a blend that keeps changing and it keeps things interesting all the way even if it dies an early death on my skin. I love it. I can just bring a roller bottle with me when I wear it so I can reapply when I need to. Oh wait, I do that all the time anyway... Second/real test: This one is very very subtle on me, and the red musk is very hard to pick out. Man, it's so well blended I can't pick out notes if you paid me. It's very shy and subtle and absolutely gorgeous. The first note that comes to the foreground reminds me a little of turpentine and subsequently of the canvas and the painting of course. But it doesn't stay long and morphs into something woodsy, but only for a moment. It dries down to a pleasant but very subtle red musk with a hint of spice and honey. It stays very very close to the skin but it's there. It's infinitely gorgeous, and very sophisticated. To be worn when I want to be perfumed but not scream about it. Art in scent form.

  18. I received a package in the mail, consisting of 2x SNAKE CHARMER: RESURRECTED, DEATH ADDER, JACOB'S LADDER 2008, WOOD PHOENIX. Most of these are back ups since I have decants or bottles from before and they're already tested. DEATH ADDER, however, was new to me and is probably one of the most gorgeous ones i've ever tried. Here's my thoughts on it: -Vetiver at first as always when it's involved but not as sharp and not for as long as usually either. I don't mind vetiver anymore, actually i'm growing to love it more with every application on my skin. In this one it gives way to snake oil with a serious twist. It's absolutely gorgeous, a darker approach to snake oil. It's a new fave already,. Yes it's a crowded room by now but this one is a given. It's also the dark side of SNAKE CHARMER and the light side of SCHWARZER MOND (both RES versions though because I never got my hands on an original). We could be looking at a back up before CD goes down.

  19. DEATH ADDER -man I love this one!! I want to wear it all the time. I love it so much i'm sad that I have to sleep. That says something lol.

  25. DEATH ADDER

  26. went on a trip with a neighbor and I put WOOD PHOENIX on. It gets better with every application. I'm very happy I got a bottle of this after all. It was a chance and I was a little scared when it first got here because it had this strange little sharp edge, but now that's all mellowed out and it's gorgeous in every stage. Right up into the faves and into the tea chest where I keep my top 12.

  27. DEATH ADDER

  28. I tried LUNAR ECLIPSE for change but naah, didn't really work out.

  29. Today I wanted WANDA and it was a nice change although I can't wait to get back to DEATH ADDER.

  30. DEATH ADDER you were missed...

  31. Back on SNAKE CHARMER again. Not at all tired of DEATH ADDER but I wanted something sweeter.
